Portland Japanese Garden
One of the loveliest places in town asked me to create the look and feel for an art exhibit in the winter of 2022. I learned about netsuke (sounds like “nets-keh”), which are tiny, intricately carved and painted toggles that hang from belts and sashes—a form of subversive fashion during a time when common citizens weren’t allowed to display opulence.
I art directed the photography, and created a poster, brochure, various digital pieces, some print ads, and six large-scale wall panels for the exhibit.

Oregon Historical Society
In the mid-1900s, LIFE Magazine used photomontage on its covers, where part of an image overlapped the LIFE logo. For RENATE’s WWII exhibit at Oregon Historical Society, I developed a concept based on the photomontage style, and also executed some production work, including an interactive war table and an instructional origami piece.

Under the creative direction of Jelly Helm, I executed initial layout and production work for a series of five billboards.
