Portland Japanese Garden
One of the loveliest places in town asked me to create the look and feel for an art exhibit in the winter of 2022. I learned about netsuke (sounds like “nets-keh”), which are tiny, intricately carved and painted toggles that hang from belts and sashes—a form of subversive fashion during a time when common citizens weren’t allowed to display opulence.
I art directed the photography, and created a poster, brochure, various digital pieces, some print ads, and six large-scale wall panels for the exhibit.
